FAQs

See below for answered questions. If you don't see what you're looking for, give us a call

1. When is it time for new shoes?

Shoes will last between 300 and 500 miles. If you aren’t keeping track of your miles, your body will be a good indicator to whether your shoes are due for replacement. Have you had your shoes for 8 months and your joints are starting to hurt? It is probably time for new ones.

2. What is your return policy?

We accept returns on shoes for up to 2 weeks from their purchase. You can wear them inside or out, but if your new shoes aren’t working, please make sure to pay us a visit within 2 weeks.

3. What shoe is right for me?

The best way find the right shoe for you is to have your running style analyzed by one of our fit specialists in the store. By taking into account your unique bio-mechanics and running goals, we’ll be able to find a shoe that works well.

4. What makes your shoes different from a department store's?

Not all running shoes are created equal. Some shoe brands have running shoes in department stores that are more running style than running function. Shopping at Often Running ensures that your running shoes are actual technical running shoes and not just a fashion accessory—not that you won’t look good in our shoes!

5. Do socks matter?

To get the most out of your running, you need to start from the ground up. That means getting a good pair of shoes and socks. Running socks are generally made from non-cotton, moisture-wicking materials, designed to keep your feet dry and minimize the risk of developing blisters. Cotton socks can keep moisture close to your feet and can cause hot spots and blisters. Higher-quality running socks are so specially-designed that many are even left & right specific.

6. Can I do other activities in my running shoes?

Yes! But realize that the other activities that you do in the shoes will reduce the total mileage that you will get out of them. When you talk with your fit specialist, let them know the activities that you intend on doing in the shoes.

7. Do you sell walking shoes?

Because the cushion, support, and comfort level of running shoes tends to be better than traditional walking shoes, we often recommend running, rather than walking, shoes for our walking customers.

8. What does a fit analysis at Often Running entail?

Your fit specialist will first take you through a series of questions that look into your background and your shoes’ intended use. After assessing these, we will watch you walk to learn how your feet and legs move through the gait cycle. We will then decide what level of support and cushion should be appropriate for your body and needs. From here, we will bring out several different shoes for you to try on and decide what works best for you.
